Summertime Delights

Lisianthus adorned in purple, yellow, and white,

colorfully proclaim summer’s delight.

And Petunias embellished in pink, red, and blue,

proudly show off their breathtaking hues.

And Cardinals sing a mid-summer tune,

serenading the beauty of the flowering blooms.

And ruby-throated beauties, dressed in their hummingbird attire,

perch among the lilies for all to admire.

And raspberries appear –  a succulent treat,

plump, red, juicy, and deliciously sweet.

And tart lemonade and sweet glasses of tea

are sipped beneath the shade of a an old oak tree.

And thick summer novels lie stacked by the door,

begging to be read on the porch once more.

I will pause to savor each summer memory made,

for soon summertime into Autumn will fade.
